The postings and information on this site are opinions of myself and things that I have found on the web. The opinions do not reflect the individuals or organizations profiled. Some information may be inaccurate or offensive. One that I find weird and may have to change it as it doesn't seem accurate is Saskatoon and Regina's average attendance for Dub games. That is the stat I found.

CFL Expansion

No nothing going down to the US and A in this post. But lets all think about here could the CFL expand? Many think it could. Ottawa can try for round 3 and Quebec City is surely large enough. But other markets have been named that could possibly be home to a CFL franchise.

Cities that have been mentioned besides Ottawa and Quebec have been Halifax, Moncton, London, Kitchener. Another point that someone brought up to me a few years ago was in a bar in Calgary. This guy was from Saskatoon and a die hard riders fan. He believed and came up with a theory that Saskatoon could also support a team just as well as Regina. And after being at Rider games I could almost see this possible. Many facts on alot of the cities mentioned also would have to deal with stadiums and what not.  But would it be possible that places like Victoria or Kelowna could possibly support a team. Kelowna probably not but you never know. Ottawa and an Atlantic team would be a perfect fit for the CFL as Winnipeg could move back to the West 2 new teams in the East. 10 teams in the league. Who knows what the CFL will do.

WMBL Ticket Prices

So I looked at all the teams sites in the WMBL to see what the average ticket price is. I am smart as I never pay. If I am not too drunk I just walk in and say I am with the opposing team (unless its Weyburn or Yorkton then I am too embarassed then I just sneak in). Sneaking into the games is usually easy as they have someone really old manning the gate half of them you can tell them you are there to play hockey. They don't know the difference or don't fucking care its hilarious. Its not like sneaking into Fort Knox. But then again there are some people out there who are honest and think it is the right thing to pay. Paying for the game is like paying for beer inside its dumb. But if thats your way here are the average ticket prices that I found around the league. Funny enough I never found one for the Weyburn Beavers. But with 76 fans a game it probably isnt that hard to see who pays and who doesn't.

Edmonton $13
Lethbridge $11
Medicine Hat $11
Mellville $8
Moose Jaw $10
Okotooks $10
Regina $10
Saskatoon $8
Swift Current $10
Yorkton $8
I still am amazed at how this league operates even with sponsors the players must have to pay something. I mean the league could run if all they brought up was Mexicans and they took mules to games and lived in cardboard boxes.

3 Players Committed to Regina Pat Canadiens

3 players are committed to the Regina Pat Canadians. Michael Eskra, Jayden Halbgewachs, and Troy Murray for the 2012-2013 season.

Michael Eskra a defenceman played for the Regina Bantam AA Oilers last season where he led the team with 37 points in 24 games. He was selected by the Vancouver Giants in the 5th round 110th overall. And yes Eskra is the kid recieving the award there not the old guy giving it.
Jayden Halbgewachs is a forward from Emerald City who played last season with the Prairie Storm. How the hell you pronounce that last name is beyond me. He was selected 19th overall by the Kamaloops Blazers and the announcers there can figure out how to pronounce his name. He had 55 goals and 34 assists in 24 games. This kid better tear it up next year in AAA. To bad hes heading west to play in the dub.

Troy Murray was a teammates of Halbgewachs with the Prairie Storm last season. The dman had 18 points in 23 games. He was drafted 10th overall by the Kootenay Ice and is the younger brother of Ryan Murray who was recently selected in the NHL draft 2nd overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sunday July 15th WMBL Action

Sunday July 15th WMBL Action

There were 4 games accounted for today in WMBL play. The Moose Jaw Miller Express had 2 games at home while the Yorkton Cardinals had 2 games on the road and lord knows if they enjoyed either of them.
Where to start here. I rib on the Yorkton Cardinals alot here on this blog but until they can prove other wise it will continue.
The Yorkton Cardinals rolled into Moose Jaw today in body lord knows if they were there in mind as they got their assholes blown out at 2 oclock today by the Miller Express. 10-1. Ouch if Yorkton keeps this shit up there is no way in hell they will ever be ahead of the Weyburn Beavers. Now that is something they should be ashamed of. Yorkton didn't even get their run until the ninth inning. God to the Cardinals baseball starts in the first not the ninth. The Cards went through 4 pitchers with Manning getting the loss. For the Express Local product Dustin Clapette pitched the full game for the easy win. Ben Wylly had 4 RBIs for the express. After this its time for the Cardinals to go over to Regina.

So as the Cards head a tad east over to Regina their assholes got even bigger getting whalopped 15-1. Regina got a little soft on them as it was 9-0 after the second inning. You would think that Yorkton would of just packed up and left but they stayed in for the whole game. How we will never know. Cory Thompson for the Cards pitched the 2 innings that gave up 9 runs and got the loss and probably wished he would of stayed back in Florida. Thats about enough laughing at the Cardinals for one day we should talk about some real baseball here.
The Miller Express had their second game of the night when the Melville Millionaires came into town. The Express hadn't played a real game all day. This seemed to be a great game with the Millionaires winning 6-3. The game was close until the 9th and then Sheldon Odell got a home run for the Millionaires.
Over in Alberta the Dawgs fell 5-1 to the Lethbridge Bulls in 5 innings.
4 Games are scheduled for tomorrow but really only 2 will be games as games that contain Yorkton and Edmonton tend to be easier than practice for the opposition. I could be putting my foot in my mouth but I doubt it we will find out tomorrow. Weyburn also plays tomorrow at home and I really want to laugh at them but they should be able to make a ball game of it against Saskatoon. Lets see if they can get over 100 fans tomorrow. It is a monday night but still what the fuck else are you going to do in Weyburn on a monday? Drink? You can drink at the game.

Future Watch NHL Draft 2013 Morgan Klimchuk

Morgan Klimchuk NHL Draft 2013
Last November I read an article about the top draft choices for 2013 on a blog called Coming down the pipe. It is a great blog for those of you who love the dub. It is wrote by 2 fat guys out of Edmonton I think great read. They had their top 5 picks which looked great and then had Klimchuk rated in their honorable mention. Their top 5 are great. As of now Klimchuk should go in the first round.

As a 16 year old Klimchuk had 36 points in 67 games. The 5'11 180lb centre was 5th on the team in scoring. He also played in 1 game as a 15year old call up. He was selected 5th overall by the Regina Pats in the 2010 Bantam draft
It is still early and he could rise and he could fall. Time will tell.

Prairie Junior Hockey League

What is the Prairie Junior Hockey League. Besides the obvious that it is a junior hockey league located in the Prairies. The Prairie Junior Hockey League started in 2007 with teams combining from 2 junior B leagues in Saskatchewan. It consists of 13 teams across the province. The only alumni that has made the NHL that I can find out of this league was Derek Boogard.(RIP) But with that as an example and knowing Boogards hockey skill one can imagine the calibre of this league. Looks alot like a glorified beer league. Although quite a few players have moved up to play in the SJHL the Prairie Junior League looks like a final destination league for players that still haven't lost the dream or just want to play a little competitive hockey for fun.

I am still researching more on this league and will keep you informed the more I find.

Baseball Teams Players

The Western Major League Baseball League is a collegiate summer league across western Canada. Never watched much on it until this year. I was curious as to where the players are from and how many locals are on each team so on this sunday I decided to research each team and see where the players are from. Ie which team has the most locals ect. Just a piece of interesting but useless information. Also touted alot of team websites and researched a lot of history of WMBL. For those of you not familiar with the WMBL (which is probably a lot of you) It is a baseball league in Alberta and Saskatchewan containing 11 teams.
If baseball ever becomes popular in western Canada I think this league could expand into a few more teams. A little off my main topic here and maybe a blog post I could do for the future but such expansion cities could include Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Calgary, Camrose, Prince Albert, Cranbrook, Estevan, North Battleford, and Brandon. It turns out that back in 2005 Red Deer did have a team and Cranbrook is getting a team in 2013. I have lived in Cranbrook the team will do shitty for fans.
So here is a quick look at some of the things that I have came up about the WMBL and an insight for those of you not that familiar with the league. As the summer progressess I plan on going to as many games as I possibly can. Most of the time I will be drunk.
Edmonton Prospects. The Prospects are the worst team in the league. With 9 Canadians 3 of them are from Edmonton. With a shitstain team such as the Prospects you would think they could just go down the Yellowhead highway and pick up every drunk bum they see and keep the roster local. If you are going to suck you may as well stay local. They rank in the middle of the pack for attendance with 349 a game. But they do have competition from the Trappers as people want to watch baseball and not Tball. The little girl posted in the picture running above is probably better than the whole prospects team. With only 6 wins so far thus season thy Prospects need some Prospects.

Lethbridge Bulls. I got 21 Canadian players on the Bulls roster.2 of them being from Lethbridge. The Bulls have the 3rd highest attendance in the WMBL with an average of 509 a game.

Medicine Hat Mavericks. The Mavericks rank 2nd only behind Okotooks for attendance in the WMBL. From their roster on their website I counted 12 Canadians. 5 of them being from Medicine Hat. They average 727 fans a game. The Mavericks are second in their division trailing only Okotooks by just one game.

Melville Millionaires. The Millionaires are definately not owned by a Millionaire. On the shitty roster that I got on them it says there are only 5 Canadians but I figure there are more than that maybe the Millionaire that runs the website is out spending the money on something other than the team. Basically their website licks balls and I hope the webmaster reads this because there is little for me to laugh at about the team minus the website right now. Fix your fucking website. Its just as bad as Saskatoons. How original also to name your baseball team after your SJHL team. The Millionaires in baseball though aren't doing to shabby this year as they are in second place in their division  Where they will stay as they will never catch up to the Red Sox and it is almost an embarassing crime to be shittier than the Weyburn Beavers. But the Yorkton Cardinals have that on their shoulders. Fuck would that be embarassing knowing you are a shittier team than the Beavers.
Moose Jaw Miller Express. The Miller Express play in puke yellow jerseys much that look like the miller beer that you drink and the vomit that comes out of your mouth after you drink too many of them. The express have 12 Canadians on their roster.7 from Saskatchewan and 4 from Moose Jaw. 1 Kid is actually from Weyburn and he must have a brain as he did not play for the Beavers. There is actually a kid on the roster who hails from New Zealand.
Okotooks Dawgs. The Dawgs Trump every team in the WMBL in attendance with an average of 2,129 fans a game. And for all those morons that use the (They are so close to Calgary excuse) should shut the fuck up. When the Dawgs were in Calgary a few years back you could hear crickets when they played. The Dawgs almost get more fans than the whole league combined. With 17 Canadians on the team, 5 of them from the greater Calgary area They also have an assistant coach from Okotooks. The Dawgs as of today are also the second best team in the league. So for all the Americans wanting to come up who know nothing about the area, Wouldn't you rather play here? Or would you rather hang out in Weyburn?
Regina Red Sox.  The Red Sox have 7 Canadians with 4 of them from Regina. 2 Puerto Ricans. They rank 4th in the league in attendance with 457 a game which may sound good but it is still pathetic considering the size of Regina. The Red Sox are also the best team in all of WMBL but most in Regina fail to notice who the Red Sox are as they take a back seat to the Roughriders, Pats, Cougars, Rams, Pat Canadiens Midget Hockey, Peewee House Hockey, Female Hockey, Junior T Ball, and Gay eskimo mud wrestling. But after all those the Red Sox are quite popular.
Saskatoon Yellow Jackets. Might not have their website updated until they get their welfare cheque. The Yellow Jackets are only a few games away from .500 but still sit at last in their division. As you can see in the picture above even the Yellow Jackets bat boy isn't that good (much like the team) so the players have to also do bat boy related duties.

Swift Current Indians.  The Indians have 16 Canadians on their roster. With 3 from Swift Current and 6 from Saskatchewan. They are 4th last in the league with attendance averaging 310 a game. The Indians are first in their division, which isn't hard as their division only has 3 teams including them Saskatoon who should focus on making their website better instead of baseball and Moose Jaw Miller Drunks who may be drinking too much before games. So winning that division should be an easy feat in this joke division.

Weyburn Beavers. Ranked dead last in the WMBL for attendance with a whopping  76 fans a game. One can only imagine they are the other teams bus driver and billets. How can the beavers manage to maintain those wild 76 people? What is the point of even having a team there? I will hand it to them as their website is not as low budget as one would expect. They have 10 Canadian players,  4 from Saskatchewan and 2 actually from Weyburn. They also have 3 affiliate players from Saskatchewan. The rest are Americans minus a kid from Puerto Rico and yes his last name is Rodriguez. Also if you are in Weyburn and you see a black man walking down the street and want to go to a baseball game to be the 77nd fan, ask the black man as odds are he plays for the beavers.
As of wrighting this I have selected the Weyburn Beavers as the biggest joke sports organization in all of Saskatchewan. I would like input if there is a worse one. But as of now the title is held by the Beavers.
Yorkton Cardinals. Wow the only person listed on their roster from Saskatchewan is the coach. And really he doesn't count. Only 5 Canadians on this team 3 from BC and 2 from Alberta. 2nd baseman Reid Flasch is from Lloydminster which is on the border but have him listed from Alberta. The rest of the players are all American So I am assuming the massive 185 fans they rack up a game are billet families and drunks looking for a place to hang out? One has to wonder how baseball can survive in Yorkton. Judging from that picture of that player batting it looks like they are playing in someones back yard. The equal of an American coming to Yorkton to play baseball is like a Canadian moving to Ethiopia to play Junior B hockey. Also these guys are worse in the standings than the Weyburn Beavers. Bwahahahaha. How fucking embarassing is that.
